Ahmed H. Abdelmohsen

“Many times, I was in situations that compelled me to choose between two choices that would govern my future and control my studies. Such situations improved my confidence and developed my personality.”

Ahmed H. Abdelmohsen — FAME 2015-2017 alumnus

FAMEAIS: What was your specialisation in the FAME+ Master and what year did you graduate? What is your current position (PhD, job)?

Ahmed: My specialization was Materials Science and Engineering in Augsburg University, and Micro and Nanotechnology in Grenoble Alpes University, then the master thesis about morphology transition engineering of nanomaterials in Catholic University of Louvain.

I graduated in 2017.

My current position is PhD candidate at Jiangsu University in China.

FAMEAIS: How did your experience at FAME+ Master help you find this position?

Ahmed:I got a lot of experience especially in preparation and characterization of nanomaterials. During my master thesis I postulated theories and rules for morphology transition of nanomaterials and published three papers about this new topic in materials engineering. My excellent publications along with my experience helped me to be enrolled in Jiangsu University as a PhD candidate. I ranked number 1 between all applicants for PhD with the professor due to my qualifications that I got during FAME master study in Germany, France and Belgium.

FAMEAIS: Has FAME+ contributed to your personal development?

Ahmed: This master program helped me to interact with different nationalities and different cultures and helped me to improve and support my self-confidence. Many times, I was in situations that compelled me to choose between two choices that would govern my future and control my studies. Such situations improved my confidence and developed my personality.

FAMEAIS: According to you, what are the particularities of the FAME+ Master?

Ahmed: It is a unique program that serves all topics in materials science and engineering and also nanotechnology. It also helps graduate students to find a job or a position in university to conduct their PhD.

FAMEAIS: What did you most like about the FAME+ experience?

Ahmed: I like the collection of universities where you can study and have knowledge from different teachers with different backgrounds.

FAMEAIS: How would you describe the FAME+ Master in 3 words?

Ahmed: Face the Challenge of Science

FAMEAIS: Do you have any pieces of advice for new students?

Ahmed: Start studying from the first lecture and do not waste time in journeys especially for foreign students who visit the European Union for the first time.

Ask professors for help or their assistance if you do not know something.

Take part in different tasks and take care with experimental work and have a training on advanced apparatus that will enhance your qualifications.
